For the longest time, paying a visit to the Island of Burano has been on my Bucket List of places to go. This year, we finally went to this beautiful unique little place on earth.
The tiny Island of Burano is about a 40min. fairy ride away from Venice. Don’t get me wrong, Venice is an absolutely beautiful place, but the sheer amount of tourists everywhere can be quite overwhelming at times. We needed a bit of a break from the hustle and bustle, so we decided to take the water bus to Burano. Since you have to switch fairies in Murano, I feel like not that many tourists are willing to take this trip – so there were a lot fewer people in Burano than we thought. Going there before noon is definitely recommended because the later it got, the more people arrived.
The Island of Burano is famous for being a tiny little fishing Island filled with an abundance of colorful houses. I don’t think I have ever been to a more picturesque town in my life. Literally, every corner on this Island is more beautiful than the other. Every house is painted in a different color and the overall “vibe” is just so much more quiet and relaxed compared to Venice.
