It is always easy to just get caught up in everyday life. We all have work to get done, errands to run and never ending to do lists. We open apps like Instagram or maybe surf Pinterest for a while and we see all of these people traveling the world, exploring exotic places, having the time of their life.
But what is so wrong with a good old “staycation”?! Nothing actually, because I bet you no matter where you live in the world, there is probably a place close to you, that you have never been to and that is probably well worth a visit! The social media world like us to believe that we never have enough, need to go here and there, need to try this – but we all need to keep in mind that most of the time there is the ulterior motive behind that gorgeous content of selling you something or making you want to go on that trip and spent a ton of money on that fancy hotel.
I challenge you to just find a place close to you and just get out there, just like I challenged myself last week. We went to a tiny town called Bowden, which is about 1h away from where we live and went to the most beautiful sunflower fields and watched the sunset in rural Alberta. It was so peaceful, quiet and gorgeous … and you know what: it was a nice little getaway from our everyday lives and it cost us next to nothing!
Sometimes we look for the extraordinary and tend to forget the beauty of the mundane!
