By now it is probably not a secret anymore nor a big revelation that I LOVE KIMONOS. To me, they are just THE perfect summer piece, adding that certain “wow” to every outfit. Light, airy and never too hot. Another huge positive when traveling, for example, when we were in Venice: you are always ready to enter all the church sights, where you need to cover your shoulders. A fact that is probably quite random, but worth a mention.
On a different note, I thought I should talk a bit about something that has been on my mind quite a bit, late: Finding a Digital Balance. To be absolutely honest with you, Instagram and this entire blogging scene are something, I have been questioning quite a bit lately. I don’t know if I am just in somewhat of a “rut”, but this influx of new bloggers and everyone just creating the same content over and over again has left me so uninspired and made me ask a critical question: Do you still want to be a part of that?!
I feel like these days it is just all about that fast content – no reading, people just want to see pictures and hop over to the next person. That personal connection between reader and blogger that was there maybe 5 years ago has somewhat gone missing. I have started my blog in 2012, so I have been doing this for quite some time now and I can’t help but notice how things have changed and unfortunately not for the better.
“Back in the day, you actually had write a blog, in order to be invited to a blogger event. Nowadays, you only need to love avocados. “ Michael Buchinger
There is so much content out there in the digital world, that just feels the same – and I don’t even exclude myself from that. I too, post selfies & outfits and am definitely not reinventing the wheel on a daily basis and I am not claiming to do so. But sometimes I truly wonder: How many pictures of pretty girls in front of pink skies with long hair can a person like?! Aren’t readers getting fed up with the same staged perfection, the same content and to be even more specific, the same sponsorships and the same product placements?
Of course, I don’t want to paint it all too black & white – there are still so many unique, interesting blogs and Instagram accounts out there, but this has just been on my mind for so long and I just really wanted to get this out there.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this topic – how do readers these days feel about the blogging/Instagram world?
